 CAREER/TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

The Region VI Career and Technical Center at Kennett High School is seeking a collaborative leader to supervise sixteen staff members and ten programs.  This administrative position is responsible for budgets, grants, facilities, planning, adult education, public relations, liaison with the NH Department of Education, and School-to-Career activities.  The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for a NH Administrative certification.  Salary range: $74,000 to $80,000 (220 days-prorated) depending on experience with significant salary and benefits package.

POSITION:    Career and Technical Education Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

(1)        Certification as Career & Technical Director in the State of NH

(2)        Master’s degree; certification in Educational Leadership (administration/supervision)

(3)        Three years of successful teaching experience; previous supervisory experience

(4)        Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills

(5)        Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

 

REPORTS TO:           Superintendent of SAU #9

 

JOB GOAL:   To provide the leadership, in the ongoing development and implementation of the Career & Technical program.  To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student; so as to contribute to their becoming mature, able and responsible men and women.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 1.     Supervises development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of vocational programs and instruction.

 

 2.     Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of instructional personnel.

 

 3.     Provide effective communication with parents, teachers, students, support staff, community, and sending districts.

 

 4.     Maintains appropriate records related to students, instructional, and support staff.

 

 5.     Enforces appropriate state statutes, school board policies, and administrative directives.

 

 6.     Makes decisions within the appropriate scope of authority.

 

 7.     Attends state and federal vocational education conferences and meetings and advises the          superintendent and principal on state/federal vocational education legislation.

 

 8.     Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum and instruction, and furnishes leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the non-vocational educational programs.

 

 9.     Initiates School-to-Career activities.

 

10.    Utilizes collaborative planning and shared decision-making with students, staff, advisory committees, and community.

 

11.    Fosters a climate in which an attitude of respect prevails.

 

12.    Prepares and presents the budget for Career and Technical Education.

 

13.    Supervises, evaluates, and recommends staff assignments for Career and Technical Education.

 

14.    Encourages business/community participation in the school.

 

15.    Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   215 day contract position.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.  The Superintendent of SAU #9 will be the evaluator.
