Description

The Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center seeks a teacher for our Graphic Arts, Video/Film & Photography Program. The successful candidate will provide opportunities for students interested in careers in graphic design, video production and photography through a combination of classroom and work-based learning opportunities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:           

(1)  New Hampshire Teacher certification in Career & Technical Education Specialty: Arts, Audio-Visual Technology and Communication (2200)

(2)  Demonstrated experience in graphic arts, video and photographic industry.

(3)  Demonstrated experience working with high school age students.

(4)  Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:                      Director of Career & Technical Education

 

JOB GOAL:                                      To develop in each pupil an insight and understanding of industry and its place in our society; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the technical fields; to develop practical problem-solving skills related to the materials and processes of the industry; to develop in each pupil skill in the safe use of equipment.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.      Teaches skills and knowledge in the area of Graphic, Film/video and Photographic Arts, utilizing NH DOE CTE competencies and locally developed curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.

2.      Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, activity and clean-up can be accomplished within the allotted time.

3.      Guides students at appropriate work-based learning opportunities.

4.      Guides pupils in selection of appropriate elective projects.

5.      Maintains a record of student attendance which can be audited and makes daily reports of students absent each period.

6.      Design and use assessment data to monitor progress of all students towards established standards, maintaining accurate records.

7.      Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.

8.      Create an environment of respect and rapport that establishes a culture of learning

9.      Manage classroom procedures and student behavior

10.   Communicate with students and their families

11.   Collaborate with other educators within the school and across the District

12.   Implement 504 and IEP accommodations and modifications

13.   Actively participate within the professional community, growing professionally, reflecting on teaching and demonstrating professionalism

14.   Recruits opportunities for extended learning opportunities for students, advises and assesses the outcomes of the opportunities.

15.   Advises the Skills USA chapter of Career and Technical Student Organizations.

16.   Maintains an active advisory committee consisting of industry representatives, prior and current students.

17.   Keeps informed of the industry’s job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs.

18.   Follow District policies and procedures

19.   Complete other duties as assigned by the director.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT - Regular teacher contract

 

EVALUATION - Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.  The principal and/or administrative designee will be the evaluator.
