JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION:      Computer Technician

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate Degree in Information Technology, or a High School Diploma with at least the following certifications: CompTIA A+ and Network+/CCENT plus two years of practical experience supporting multi-platform technology in a networked domain environment.
  2. Solid understanding of Ethernet hardware and configuration, including network switches, routers, firewalls and domain controllers. Must also have at least a conceptual understanding of network segmentation (VLANs) and associated IP subnetting.
  3. Able to do basic network troubleshooting of hard-wired and wireless networks to resolve perceived connectivity issues.
  4. Expert-level ability to troubleshoot and repair diverse computer technology including PCs, MACs, tablets, Chromebooks, projectors, servers.
  5. Expert-level knowledge of current and legacy versions of Microsoft Windows, MAC OS, iOS, and Chrome OS Operating Systems, as well as “apps” and productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, with the ability to provide instructional support of each to the end-user if needed.
  6. Able to create master disk images to replicate via disk cloning for rapid deployment of new hardware.
  7. Ability to perform System Administrator functions including user account set-up and management in the Windows Domain environment through Active Directory, as well as the SAU9.org GAFE and other third-party filtering employed.
  8. Ability to effectively use a Trouble Ticket system to manage and track support requests in a timely manner. Able to triage and prioritize issues for efficient customer response.
  9. Must have a strong teamwork ethic for collaborative support and knowledge-sharing.

 

REPORTS TO:            District Technology Coordinator / Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL:                 Contributes to district operational efficiency and student learning by

providing technology hardware and software support services to staff,

faculty, and students.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform technology device asset management and tracking to ensure equitable access, mitigate loss, ensure security patch installation, facilitate obsolescence rotation, and ewaste disposal.
  2. Configure and deploy computer equipment in classrooms and offices where directed by the Technology Coordinator, building Principal, and per annual plan.
  3. Troubleshoot and resolve computer hardware and software issues.
  4. Install Operating Systems and application software
  5. Replicate installations for consistency in like-devices such as carts or labs
  6. Perform Sys-Admin functions using Active Directory, including configuring DHCP, DNS, User Accounts, and Group-Policy (GPOs).
  7. Manage Google Accounts in SAU9.org GAFE and GoGuardian.
  8. Maintain security patches on computers to mitigate the potential for malware
  9. Troubleshoot hard-wired and Wi-Fi network and server issues
  10. Ensure locally hosted data is backed up on a regular basis
  11. Actively follow industry news to be aware of security threats and emerging technologies that can facilitate IT, classroom technology integration, and district operational efficiency
  12. Track closely trouble-ticket reports to detect common trends.
  13. Provide support for online classroom testing, including Smarter Balance and NWEA where applicable.
  14. Actively participate on the Conway School District Technology Committee, and building-level technology committees as assigned.
  15. Ensure compliance with CIPA and FERPA through adequate filtering and policy enforcement.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  In accordance with the Non-Union Staff Personnel Policies

 

WORK YEAR:   260 days / year round position

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the non-Union Staff Personnel Policies.  The Technology Coordinator will be the evaluator.
