Kennett High School Student Advocate / Director of Eagle Academy

 

JOB GOAL: This position will work with traditional high school education programs, alternative education programs and community service agencies and organizations to maximize the educational success for the special education and at risk student population at Kennett High School.

 

REPORTS TO: Student Advocate Position reports to the principal of Kennett High School.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONISBILITIES:

  1. Manage and direct all operating functions of the Eagle Academy. To include but not limited to;
    1. Hiring of EA teachers and staff
    2. Creation and management of EA budget.
    3. Timely submission of all state and local reports and grants.
    4. Manage day to day activities of the Eagle Academy including discipline, student course selection, and curriculum, program of studies, student and staffing schedules, and graduation.
    5.  Work closely with the Kennett High School School Counseling Department and serve on child study and intenseve team meetings.
    6.  Regular observations and evaluation of all Eagle Academy teachers and curriculum.
    7. Develop and manage post secondary transition opportunities and follow up.

 2. Oversight and management of the KHS HiSET Options program.

    1. Management of all HiSET budget items
    2. Regular visitation and monitoring of all HiSET internship and work based learning sites.
    3. Coordination and oversight of all the HiSET pretest and testing activities.
    4. Manage day to day activities of the HiSET options program including student application process, regular budget and supply oversight, HiSET student discipline, interface with KHS guidance and child study team as needed.
    5. Regular observations and evaluation of HiSET teacher and HiSET testing.
    6. Develop and manage post secondary transition opportunities and follow up.
    7. Timely submission of all state and local reports and grants. 

 

3. High school contact with parents, community service agencies and organizations as needed for the special education and at risk student population. Ensure emergency services are provided in times of student crisis, (food, clothing & shelter) to maintain student educational success.

 

4. Recommend and collaborate with Vice Principal and appropriate Kennett staff to design alternative education programs, Individual Learning Plans, and Individual Education Plans for those special education and at risk students where traditional day school or night school options are not effective. (HiSET off site programs, distance learning courses, work based learning options)

 

5. Work with Kennett High School administration to ensure compliance with all SB18 requirements to include filing and follow up of CHINS petitions, compliance with new truancy legislation and other court ordered and legislative activities.

 

6. Interface with Kennett SAP Program (The WYLD Wilderness Youth Leadership Development course), working with WYLD teacher and students on alternative educational opportunities and post secondary transition.

 

7. Pursue all grant opportunities relating to special education and at risk student population.

 

8. Any other duties as assigned by the principal.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Conway School District Administrators/Supervisors Personnel Policies.
