POSITION TITLE: General Maintenance Person
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a self-starter and able to work without supervision.
- Must have general knowledge of plumbing, boilers, carpentry, electricity, grounds keeping, masonry, and general maintenance.
- Must be able to do general repairs, know his/her limitations and not hesitate to contact a specialist when in doubt.
- Possess the ability to get along with others and be flexible in his/her schedule, responsibilities and work.
REPORTS TO: Buildings and Grounds Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To provide students and teachers with a safe, clean, attractive place to learn.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to the Principal of the building to which he/she is assigned.
- Maintains boilers in good operating condition.
- Keep boiler rooms clean.
- Do light electrical work which does not require and electrician’s license.
- Repair or replace parts such as motors, controls, motorized valves, etc.
- Make repairs or adjustments to pneumatic controls and HVAC equipment.
- Repair or replace plumbing; i.e. sinks, toilets, faucets, heaters, piping, etc.
- Check filters, replace or clean as needed.
- Weekly check air tanks and drain condensate.
- Repair doors and fixtures.
- Replace broken windows.
- Perform other duties as required and/or directed, or as noticed at time of other activity when it seems a sensible use of time.
- Be available on call when needed.
- Be involved in the ongoing program of plant cleanliness.
