TITLE:            School Psychologist

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

(1)        Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, or CAGS or MS in School Psychology

(2)        Certification as School Psychologist or Associate School Psychologist by the NH State Board of Education

 

REPORTS TO                       Director of Special Services

 

JOB GOAL    To promote and facilitate improvement in the quality of life available to the student, family, school and community through competent and ethical application of skills in assessment, counseling, intervention, and consultation.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assesses strengths and needs of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic services
  2. Provide timely and useful reports of psychoeducational and psychological assessments
  3. Help identify within the school all types of exceptional children in need of service
  4. Maintain case records on all referred students
  5. Recommend corrective or remedial procedures
  6. Conduct individual and group counseling with children whose diagnosed problems warrant behavioral intervention and social-emotional support
  7. Confer with teachers and parents whenever appropriate
  8. Consult on special education needs of all disability conditions identified under NH State Standards
  9. Attend case conferences when appropriate, and advise on placement of individual students
  10. Serve as consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school health program
  11. Advise teachers and parents about School Psychology services available
  12. Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
  13. Act as liaison between the school and juvenile court when needed
  14. Attend staff, professional, and interagency meetings when needed
  15. Assist with inservice training of school personnel
  16. Participate in national standardization projects with assessment revision samples when appropriate
  17. Keep abreast of new developments in the field by attending professional conferences and maintaining membership in professional associations
  18. Represent the School District favorably

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT – 187 day Conway teacher contract

 

EVALUATION - Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
