JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

POSITION:    Elementary Math Instructional Coach

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. NH teacher certification K-8 in elementary education and/or mathematics, or proof of eligibility for NH certification
  2. Bachelor’s degree or higher
  3. Demonstrated educational leadership (working with adult learners, coaching teachers, and delivering professional development) and expertise in mathematics education.
  4. Experience in teaching elementary mathematics, curriculum development, assessment, data analysis to inform instruction.

 

REPORTS TO:           Conway Elementary Building Principals

 

JOB GOAL: To assist staff in developing best practices in the area of mathematics education of elementary-aged students in order to provide all students with a quality educational program in which they reach their full potential.

The Elementary Math Instructional Coach will provide instructional support and coaching to educators in all Conway Elementary Schools as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The coach's primary role is to work with teachers, supporting high quality instructional practices, using data, providing analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and making recommendations about potential next steps to address identified areas of need.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an advisor to elementary staff and principals, the coach is responsible for:

  1. Provide instructional feedback to enhance and support the development of math instruction.
  2. Work collaboratively with multiple instructional teams to advise, coach and model for teachers how to design lessons/units, develop instructional strategies, assessments, and intervention programs for all students.
  3. Create an environment of respect and rapport that establishes a culture of learning.
  1. Work with multiple teams (administrators, teachers, curriculum teams) to facilitate the analysis of student achievement data to identify needed supports and strategies.
  1. In collaboration and consultation with building principals, the coach will work to create system-wide practices and procedures.
  1. Facilitate ongoing math professional development.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Conway Education Association (CEA) contract.

 

WORK YEAR: 187 day / school year position

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.  Elementary principals and/or administrative designee will be the evaluators.
